I couldn’t agree more with Cara Sadouskaza, a coordinator for adoptions in Russia, who wrote the following words. “Years will pass. Children, that by the will of fate were orphans in Russia, and ended up adopted and the citizens of the United States, will grow up. Of course the United States will be their motherland, but maybe their parents and relatives, they themselves and their friends will feel some thing that connects them with Russia. Maybe their children’s arm’s, stretched from one country to the other, through all the borders, above the heads of politicians, in spite of the tales and bad will of some people, will be able to tie our people with mutual fate, love and care better and stronger then any official international agreement.”
President Dwight D. Eisenhower said “I have long believed, as have many before me, that peaceful relations between nations require mutual respect between individuals.” President Eisenhower believed that ordinary citizens of differant nations, if able to communicate directly, would solve their differances and find a way to live in peace.
This project meets the beliefs and high goals of both Mrs. Sadouskaza and President Eisenhower. One person can make a difference. This project will forever link the hundreds of people involved, half a world apart in a good and positive way.
I have worked on this project for over two years and along the way I have recieved help from over 500 people in 76 cities, 23 states and 5 countries. This has truely become a world wide effort. Adopted children from all over the USA have donated their allowances, schools have done aluminum can drives and donations have been recieved from $10 to $5,000. See fundraising topic section for more detail on the fundraising efforts.
To date, I have spent over 700 hours personally working on the project and other volunteers have contributed over 1000 hours of their time (the actual time volunteer time is probably double this number since many people have contributed countless hours helping that I do not have record of).
